So this week I was able to take a variety of pictures for my cover, table of contents, and article. I don't have a computer at the moment since I am not home for vacations, and I am not able to upload them in the blog. As soon as I get back from break I'll be able to pass the pictures from my camera to the computer and upload it!
Also, since I have no computer, I haven't been able to do the editing necessary for the pictures. Instead of not doing anything, which would take me a step back, I've decided to start working on my article for the two page spread and figuring out what will be incorporated in the rest of my magazine (table of contents).

Eleventh Post: Photoshop.
I've decided to use Photoshop as my main editing system. I will be using the application to add the neon colors for my cover page, since I am low on resources and may not have the posibility to use actual neon lights to create the effect I am looking for.
This week that is coming up I will focus on taking the pictures needed mainly for my cover page, but also for my table of contents and my two page spread.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Tenth Post: Canva
This week I was playing around with Canva. I'm still trying to get a hang of it, figuring out what fonts to use, how to arrange the subheadings, the picture, what to add, basically everything. I've decided on using one of the templates for "Traveling", and even though it's not my specific genre it still goes well and has a nice formatting. Here are some images of the template. It's kind of messy since, like I said before, I've just been playing with it and figuring out how to use it.

Ninth Post: Sketch.
As promised in my last post, I drew an idea of what I wanted for my cover image. Here you go:
Sorry for my poor drawing skills! But anyways, as you can see the subject is with her eyes closed and has somewhat of a calm face (which is what I'm trying to aim for in the original photograph) and then there are different types of colors that are going into her body through her ears, somewhat engulfing her, which would be representing the music.
Next week since it's spring break, and I have much more time in my hands, I will start shooting pictures and see what works best for me.

Eighth Post: Article
My article is going to be about Music Psychology (I know, I've changed it twice already, this is the last time). I had this inspiration because of the personal experiences that have helped me and the effect it has on those around me too.
Emotions evoked by music don't just feel good, but they are also good for your health, both emotionally and physically. A meta-analysis of 400 music studies found that listening to music has the ability to reduce anxiety, fight depression, and boost the immune system. Clinical music therapists have even started prescribing music for everything from Alzheimer's to Autism Spectrum Disorder (in addition to other treatments.)
Since my article is focused on music, and how it makes others around feel, I want my cover page to focus on the subjects face and how it is being affected by what it has around. I want my subject to have a calm facial feature with the neon lights representing the music flowing, while it affects its emotion. I want readers to see it and catch their eyes instantly with the contrast that the dark background is going to have with the colors.
I hope everything goes well and I'm able to photograph the emotions and make it work! I'll be posting drawings soon to show an example of what I'm aiming for.

Seventh Post: Group Discussion
Today in our media studies class we were put into groups to help out each other on our different projects. I was in a group with 3 other people, and 2 of them were also doing magazine, which helped me look at other perspectives and see what i could do with my own magazine.
I mentioned how i was struggling with the cover for my magazine and didn't know what specific route to go to. My group members heard what i wanted to make my article about (which i will mention in my next post) and they guided me toward using a person as the main image. The filter would be in black and white, but i would like to incorporate a couple of neon lights to pop the image (which has a meaning and i will also explain in my next post).
This image is part of my inspiration of the neon light.
