First post: Magazine Genre.

I've decided to create a scientific magazine for my AICE Media project. Most of my inspiration is from reading magazines such as "Science".

Target Audience:

The research I gathered from the "Science" magazine shows that magazines of this genre have a greater range of audience that are in college/university with a 58% of readers, which are usually individuals between the age of 18-35. This information is based off of a Professional Segment Breakdown chart. The rest of the audience are industries (12%), healthcare (10%), government (6%), non-profit (5%), and others (9%).

Online Presence:

From the same article that I read on "Science" magazine, it shows that there is a greater presence online than in print. The article shows that 80% of visitors spend more than 5 minutes on their website. Also, 68%  of their readers take action after reading a third party e-mail, and another 67% are influenced by a banner ad.
The magazine markets and advertises in many ways such as online & mobile, print, e-mail, and custom.  Online, the Science website has around 12 million page impressions and 3 million browsers; it also has banner ads for iPhone and Android apps. In print, there are weekly publications with over 570,000 readers, these will display ads of technology features and new products. E-mail marketing has a wide range all the way from Science e-mail alerts, to newsletters, and even third party emails. Custom publishing allows readers to gather cover tips, booklets, posters, and webinars from the magazine.
